Ian Piercy appeared before the Erie County Legislature Energy & Environment Committee this morning to educate the legislature on the proposal to authorize 12- 13-year-old licensed hunters to hunt deer in Erie County with a firearm or crossbow during hunting season with the supervision of a licensed adult. Erie County is one of the last counties to not opt in to this statewide program.

In February, NYSDEC released a report that there were no incidents involving 12-13 year olds state wide during the last four years.

While this passed, it was vetoed by the County Commissioner. This was ultimately passed by a supermajority of the Erie County Legislators.

This was a win for all sportsman.
